Geography

Intent

Geography at GGA prepares our pupils with the knowledge, skills and understanding to make sense of their world and to face the challenges that will shape our societies and environments at the local, national and global scales.

We encourage children to be curious and to celebrate our diverse planet.

Implementation

Our curriculum fascinates and inspires children to consider both the human and physical geography across carefully selected parts of our globe.

Pupils make comparisons across continents and selected countries for place, people, human and physical environments and landscapes. Pupils will also explore their local environment and develop practical fieldwork skills as well as conducting practical enquiries to include        investigation and problem solving.

Pupils will work with a range of resources including maps, globes,     digital maps and artifacts from around the world.

They will become confident in their understanding of how locations differ; of the impact of humans on our environment; of geographical terminology and of issues of sustainability.

Impact

Pupils at GGA flourish in their understanding of the world around them due to our considered and diverse curriculum.

Through the use of a broad range of geographical resources all pupils develop a solid knowledge of places across the globe; an understanding of the core physical features and geographical concepts and the threats that some environments face.

Pupils leave us with practical lifelong understanding and skills ready to engage with the world as global citizens.
