History

Intent

The history curriculum at GGA is designed to inspire pupils’ curiosity abouts events and people of the past.

By studying a diverse range of individuals and time periods, children will learn how the past informs how they live today.

Implementation

Our history curriculum goes beyond the National Curriculum in order to expose our pupils to a wide range of individuals and time periods. Our children are encouraged to evaluate information and develop skills to empathise with the lives of people in the past.

We employ a wide range of teaching tools including photographs, artifacts books and posters alongside a subscription to The Historical Society.

We also provide a range of educational visits across your child’s time at GGA exposing them to the conditions of those in the past: from Stone Age dwellings to the knights of Warwick Castle!

Impact

Our pupils have enquiring minds and are keen to ask questions and learn more about the lives of others.

Having studied a diverse range of individuals and societies across world history gives learners the skills to respect differences in society whilst evaluating sources supports the development of critical consumers of information.
